There are many renewable sources of energy such as solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hydropower and biomass. Renewable sources of energy are extremely important because these sources offers environmentally friendly alternative to using fossil fuels. By having these renewable sources of energy, they can improve people’s energy security and energy independence. Above all, renewable sources of energy are the cleanest and safest energy sources.
The most popular source of energy is the solar energy. Solar energy is environmentally friendly and endless renewable source of energy. Compared to fossil fuels, solar power does not lead to the emission of harmful carbon dioxide. The sun is the unlimited source of energy and with proper technology can supply enough electricity to be used in every household or even in commercial and industrial properties.
Using solar power has a positive environment impact. This is because using solar energy does not contribute to climate change, acid rains or any form of pollution. Solar power when transformed from solar radiations can be converted to thermal energy or electric power. This can also be used in many applications such as agriculture and research. Nowadays, solar power is being used in two areas namely for the production of thermal energy which can heat up water and producing of electric power by the help of the photovoltaic cell.

Photovoltaic cells or PV cells are responsible for the capturing of solar energy and transform it into electricity. These cells convert sunlight into electricity by using the energy created when photons from sunlight push electrons into higher state of energy. However solar power is not just limited to thermal energy and electricity because at present there are lots of devices which are powered by solar energy.
Solar energy is a good means of providing power to homes and businesses. This is because by using solar power you are not only protecting the environment from becoming more polluted but at the same time you are saving the rest of the earth’s natural resources. Capturing solar energy is not contributing any pollution and has no harmful effects on the atmosphere. The high cost of solar panels is one of the reasons why people do not use solar power. The initial investment of installing solar power system for a house is quite expensive and aside from that solar power still needs to improve its deficiency. Another reason why people are not yet considering solar power is because it requires a large area of space.
